He's Here!

Sorry its been so long since my last post...I've been a little busy trying to take care of a newborn! :)  Kolton decided to come 2 1/2 weeks early!

Wednesday, December 14, started just like any other day.  I felt completely normal; good even.  I had walked 2 miles at the gym the night before and felt energetic driving to work at 6:45am.  I was thinking a lot about when Kolton would make his arrival.  I was concerned that he would still be weeks away as I hadn't felt any Braxton Hicks contractions in a week or so.  I thought maybe my body had slowed down in preparing for labor.  At noon I went on a lunch run to Chipotle.  Got back to my desk and ate my salad; still felt just fine.  I must have finished my lunch around 12:45pm.

Then, around 1:00pm, it happened...I heard and felt a "pop."  I sat at my desk for a minute wondering what that "pop" was.  Then I decided to go to the bathroom to check things out.  I'll spare you the details but basically my water broke on my way to the bathroom...I had to almost run there.  My coworkers told me to call my doctor and the nurse said to come in to Labor and Delivery.  I wasn't sure that it was actually my water that broke.  I still felt completely normal.  Should I be feeling anything different??  I called Kris.  He was going to stop home to get my hospital bag and he would meet me at the hospital!  I grabbed my stuff and went straight to Amber's desk.  "So I think my water broke...want to take me to the hospital?"  :)  Haley grabbed us a giant plastic bag so I had something to sit on and off we went!

The contractions started on the drive to the hospital.  I still wasn't completely positive this was really happening.  I got settled in my labor and delivery room.  I was only 2-3cm dilated so it was going to be a long night.

By about 5:00pm I was 4-5cm dilated.  By this point I was swearing at the contractions when they came.  Dr. Pae said it would probably be about 4-5 more hours so I decided to get the epidural!  Much better! :)  Around 10:30pm I was 9cm, 10cm during contractions.  Dr. Pae had to go perform a C-section so he told me and Kris to take an hour nap before it would be time to start pushing.  Around 11:45pm the nurse came in and started preparing my room for Kolton's delivery.  I started pushing just after midnight.

After 11 hours of labor and 20 minutes of pushing Kolton Michael Kamakian was born on Thursday, December 15, at 12:30am!  He weighed 6lbs, 4.8oz and was 19 inches long. :)

We definitely weren't expecting him so early but we were so thankful for our early Christmas present!

We are finally 99% done with Kolton's room.  Here are some pictures:

There is no closet in this room so Kris found this shelf idea online.  It turned out great!

We still want to put in a white ceiling fan and there is one last picture frame that we need to get and hang.  Other than those two things, Kolton's room is all set!  His clothes and blankets are all clean and now we are just waiting for him to make his arrival! :)

I'm 37 weeks today.  Kolton's due date is exactly 3 weeks away.  He is considered full-term now though so he can come out anytime!  We have a doctor appointment tomorrow so I will be sure to update everyone if anything exciting is going on!

Next week, hopefully I'll be able to post some of the cute preggo pictures Laura took of us earlier this week. :)



Baby Shower #3!

Kris' mom threw us wonderful baby shower #3 on November 13th.  Here are some pictures from that shower:

Kris brought a gift for me!  It was everything I need for my hospital bag, including some really cute Pink lounge clothes to wear!  So sweet! <3

BIG "Thank you" to Kris' mom, Mary, for putting the shower together for us!  Thanks to Tia for helping with the shower games and to anyone else who helped!  We are so blessed to have such great friends and family!

BTW, we finally remembered to take another belly picture when I was 32 weeks along, on November 6th.

I'm 36 weeks today!  Ahhh!!!  4 more weeks until Kolton's due date!  I'm actually hoping he comes in 2 or 3 weeks....CRAZY!

Shower # 2!

On October 23rd Haley, Amber and my mom threw us a fabulous baby shower!  Here are some pictures from that day:

Meghan and I have known each other since we were babies.  I'm so glad that we are still a part of each others' lives after all of these years!

Ditto with Claudia.  We have known each other since the third grade and its been so awesome to be pregnant together!  She is due only 2 weeks after me! :)

Baby Shower Time!

Oh my!  I'm so sorry I haven't posted in so long!  Needless to say, it has been an extremely busy past 2 months.  Kris and I have had a lot going on lately but we are chugging right along and trying to get ready for the Holidays and for Kolton.

We are so blessed that we have so many amazing people in our lives!  We have had 3 baby showers for Kolton over the past 2 months!  There are so many pictures and details from each one that I don't want to combine them into one super-long post so I am going to post about one each week for the next 3 weeks.

My wonderful co-workers at USABlueBook surprised me with our first baby shower.  The shower was on October 13.  We were so lucky to have gotten some really cute clothes and bibs, an activity jumper as well as our car seat and the extra base we needed for the car seat!
